The Pixi Project

birthday.jpg

I just discovered The Pixi Project today via Eco-Cupsious and they really are doing some awesome things! The Pixi Project is an animal adoption center and non-profit pet supply store that donates 100% of their profits to animal rescue, adoption and low-income spay and neuter services!

Clover-300x300.jpgpixie-13200x300.jpg

I just love the leash and collar (as modeled by Clover above) product line available in their shop! Not only do these accessories raise money for animal rescue, spay and neuter programs, but communicate adoption awareness wherever your dog (or cat!) goes. Most importantly, 100% of the profits generated from the sale of the Adoption Option Leash and Collar Line go toward animal rescue!

We want to find the solution to the continued suffering of animals. Our brightly colored collars and leashes enable supporters to give both cash and cache to a wonderful cause.” -Pixi Project

Go Pixi Project! We just love that you are helping animals find loving and secure homes!

Love,

These sushi inspired mochi and fruit treats look almost too cute to eat! But, then again, I’d happily eat them. I love mochi! Via a guest post on the fun bento blog, Just Bento, Jen of Tiny Urban Kitchen shows us just how easy making mochi is (who knew?). To see more photos or to learn how to make sweet mochi and fruit “sushi” check out the post here.

Adopt-A-Turkey: GIVE & RECEIVE

ginnidwe_for_adopt_a_turkey.jpg
{Photos via Farm Sanctuary of the beautiful and compassionate Ginnifer Goodwin}

Hello all! I was just thinking this morning about Farm Sanctuary's adopt a turkey program and the new Thanksgiving tradition I've started. I sponsored my very first turkey this year and it truly was an amazing experience. Really, when I started thinking about it, the gift was as much for myself as it was for the life saved. That's how awesome I feel. I can't wait to carry on this tradition year after year. And, one day, I hope to actually ADOPT one. I think it's so cute how he (or she) would arrive on the Turkey Express! I can just imagine myself waiting on the front porch for our new family member to arrive. So, silly!

This makes me laugh... let the turkeys have Thanksgiving dinner too!

GIVE & RECEIVE

Because, I felt like I received so much myself from sponsoring a turkey and we just feel so strongly about the awesomeness of the Adopt-A-Turkey Project in general, we wanted to do something special this holiday season to encourage and support it. If you have or are going to adopt a turkey this year, we are offering a GIVE and RECEIVE $25 coupon that's good until the end of the year! When you donate $25 to save a turkey, we'll take $25 off your next purchase of $75 or more. All you have to do is simply, forward us your email confirmation from Farm Sanctuary to erin {at} kindboutique {dot} com. And, we'll do the rest by sending you your personal coupon!

I hope everyone is having a beautiful Saturday!
Hugs!

Wonderful, Painted Stairs by Horst Gläsker

lovesteps.jpg {via Apartment Therapy}

This is “Scala” by German artist and professor, Horst Gläsker, and it is beyond wonderful. Gläsker painted different words and colors on each of the 112 steps of this outdoor stairwell in Wuppertal, Germany to represent the different emotions and behaviors associated with relationships. Some of my favorite words include: “to forgive,” “to cuddle,” “to laugh,” “kissing hands,” “love-sick,” “homeland” and “to get the tinglies.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to stroll up these rainbow colored steps with a loved one? I hope to be so lucky to do just that one day!

A Memento From Jackie

I received a lovely surprise in the mail the other day. Jackie sent me a beautiful mini book (with a hand sewn spine!) of the illustrations she did for the site. It’s a wonderful memento of our team up!

ps: There are photos on Jackie’s site of the book that are truer to the real colors. You can check them out here.

pss: Jackie has an illustrated mini book coming out soon called “I Heart the Arctic.” The book is full of chilly illustrations of things like Eskimos, penguins and snow seals. She also has sewn goodies inspired by her arctic mini book in her Etsy shop. I am LOVING these hand sewn Scandinavian Arctic Heart Ornaments!

psss: I’m wearing my (absolute) favorite pink nail polish in the photos… Ballerina Peony!! Yay!
